Perfect
I didn't expect much, because I don't like Melissa and and Doug puzzles and I've found a lot of their other toys to be cheaply made. I was pleasantly surprised by this bead set. The colors are vibrant. It's pretty and durable. I got it for my almost 17 month old, who learned to string beads from the Lovevery bead toy. Even better, these beads fit the Lovevery string! I actually prefer the Melissa and Doug beads, but I like that we can use them together, since my daughter still has trouble with the shoelace string. She also immediately put the beads in her mouth, but I expected that and supervise her. Some of the pieces are smaller than I'd like, but I've seen worse from toys that didn't recommend 3+. Her fingers are too large to get stuck in the holes, so that's not a concern either. I also like that beads can be used as loose parts. Overall, it's a great toy for the price that will grow with her.

Helps your toddler to improve their skills
My 3 year old enjoying this activity a lot. Lacing beads helps improve hand-eye coordination, dexterity, and finger manipulation. Improve concentration and patience problem solving skills while they are involved in this activity. it's a playful and enjoyable activity, making learning a delightful experience!

Works great for our son's occupational therapy
I got these for my 3 yo who is in Occupational Therapy since the beads they were trying to have him work with were too small for my comfort level my son is developmentally delayed and also has sensory needs that he meets thru oral stimulation so most of all things go in his mouth so when I looked up on Amazon for ones that were more for him I came across these. I dont let him play with they outside of therapy sessions just so he doesnt get bored of them and so they dont get misplaced. To make them more of something special that will draw his attention during his sessions. He loves these things they come with several shoe string type laces but we use these to stack and also to play on a pencil to help work with his fine motor skills and he does so well with them and like I mentioned he loves them. I will say I can see them being a hazard to small fingers cuz our son sticks his fingers in them all the time but again I dont let him play with these unsupervised and probably wouldnt have these unless it was for his therapy so something to consider when purchasing them. Overall these have been great to work with him in sessions and have really helped him grasp the lesson that his therapist is trying to help him develop with his small fingers.

Fantastic toys
I gave this set to my 17month old grandson for Christmas. He loves them! The are sturdy, solid wooden pieces. The paint is deeply coated (I don't think they will ever have paint chips coming off) and the hole in the middle is just the right size. The beading strings are sturdy with long enough good plastic ends to lace the string. There are one color of each different shape. (1 blue: square, circle, oval etc....) I think these are a great way to teach children both color and shapes at the same time. As well as helping them to develop their fine motor control skills. We sat on the floor for a long time stringing bead after bead and then emptying the lace, which sounded great on my son's hardwood floors - lol
My daughter-in-law sent me a video of my grandson going on a walk through the house dragging his string of beads behind him noisily on those hardwood floors!! Bonus use!! (I was banned from getting a popping popcorn vacuum cleaner for him to push - hahaha)
I think these beads will last for generations, they are really well made.
All in all it turned out to be a great gift he truly loved and grandma snuck in way for it to be educational too. (They weren't all that too noisy! Just right!!)

Montessori Activity, Great for toddlers
My son loves this kit. He loves the variety of shapes and colors and makes different patterns each time. I noticed it’s helped with his cognitive skills and help encourage creativity. I enjoy purchasing most Melissa and Doug brands because they’re educational. I purchased this for Christmas and came very fast. It was a bit smaller than I had imagined but not drastically.

Amazing for fine motor skills.
This set is awesome for working on fine motor skills. I have a disabled toddler, and these colorful, different-shaped blocks really keep his attention for at least a good 20 minutes before he wants to just start chucking them all over the room. The holes are big enough for chubby little fingers to semi-easily string them. My only complaint is that they don't come with a good way to organize them or a closed container to store them in, so ours just go in a Ziplock bag. Other than that, they are an awesome toy!!

While our 18-month old granddaughter is not stringing the beads yet, she enjoys playing with the blocks. Good was to teach colors. I expect she will eventually enjoy stringing the beads. Finish on blocks is quality. I would like to have a lid on the block box b/c we travel with the blocks. However, a gallon-sized freezer bag was a good work around.

One trick- Take a 2-inch piece of straw and thread one end of the enclosed string through the straw. This makes is much easier for small hands to thread the string through the blocks. Make sure to tie a knot in the straw-end of the string so it doesn't come off. (Perhaps if Melissa or Doug is reading this, they would consider including a lace with a much longer aglet so the straw would be unnecessary.)

My 2 Year old LOVES these!
Edited to add: One year later we have replaced the laces with some heavy duty boot laces, as the plastic ends on the ones that came with this have come off making it hard to thread. Also, my son still loves playing with them a year later. He is now 3. The replacement laces only cost a few dollars at our local grocery store. My son got these for Christmas. He absolutely loves them and asks to play with them every day. As with all of the other Melissa and Doug toys that we have these are wood and seem to be well made in different shapes (so he can practice patterns when he's a bit older) and painted in bright colors. These are a really great toy to have around to help with fine motor skills, color id and pattern making. I highly recommend.

Had to buy for second child
Donated/gifted majority of my kids toys when she got older, so bought this again for my second child. Was my daughter’s favorite at 2 years old but my son could care less for it. He used it as a weapon and chucked it at people and around the house. Haha. Depends on the child, but I still give it 5 stars as I think it teaches fine motor skills at a young age. As well as shapes, colors, and creativity.

Develop fine motor skills
I chose these lacing beads to help my LO with fine motor skills. These were preferred over other available choices because they have a larger hole and make it easier for little ones with emerging skills. At the suggestion of our child's Occupational Therapist, we use these with pipe cleaners because the more rigid "string" makes it much easier to manipulate. My LO will sit and "work" with these beads for 15-20 minutes. These beads are also great for shapes, colors, and counting. I would highly recommend these for any little one, but especially a child with developmental delays/special needs.

Great toy that sustains attention
I really love these beads. My 2 year old is easily entertained with this for and hour plus. She can string the beads herself and enjoys making necklace after necklace. I can see this lasting awhile as she gets old enough to play with patterns. The beads and string are well made and seem durable. I wish it came with more than 2 strings but she usually puts all the beads on 1 string anyway. While the holes are large and could fit a toddler finger, they really shouldn't be unsupervised with this toy anyway and I haven't had any problem guiding my child away from sticking her finger in the hole so I don't think this is much of a problems as some reviews have said.

Great colorful manual dexity for toddlers
Our granddaughter just loved playing with these beads when I filled in for my daughter's daycare. As soon as I walked in the door she would ask if I had the beads. She's 2.5 years old and it took her a little while to be able to master stringing the beads. But they held her interest and until she mastered the skill. We had great fun making necklaces together.
